I have worked extensively to better Peoria’s economic growth and diversity by bringing new business to the city, both large and local. Over the past 12 years, the development of the P83 area has been one of my largest projects that continues to see growth even now. Some of Peoria’s most recent business developments include Amkor’s 2B microchip processing facility, Vestar’s 50M retail investment into the Lake Pleasant and Happy Valley area, and the addition of new eateries to P83 such as Blanco, North Italia, and Postinos.
I strongly believe that directly supporting our police, fire, and medical teams in the city of Peoria directly contributes to maintaining a safer community. Years of research show how important it is to allocate resources to these facilities in order to deter crime and maintain public safety. I have consistently voted in support of public safety, directly contributing to the growth and support of our police and fire/medical staff here in the city of Peoria.
Making sure Peoria has water for years into the future is an ongoing point of attention for me. I consistently support the efforts of Peoria’s Water Services Department to ensure Peoria's water supply.

Youth engagement has by far been my strongest focus over the course of my time as Councilman. Nearly 10 years ago, I created my favorite program: the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) on the Dias, which allows Peoria’s youth to be directly involved in their community. In the YAB, students are selected by a board of their peers to be interviewed by the City Council Boards and Commissions, and two members each year are selected to sit on the Dais and be directly involved in the public city council meetings. This project has been highly rewarding, both in the sense that the young adults of our community have a platform to voice their thoughts, and in the sense that the city can better serve our next generation of leaders. Through this program, I have met countless bright-minded students that show a passion for involvement and betterment of their community– which has been the most inspiring part of my time as councilperson thus far.
Councilman and Vice-Mayor Jon Edwards is focused on 3 main pillars during his time on City of Peoria Council:
